ABOUT KAISER CONSTRUCTION
Fulfillment from Quality Construction
The relationship between an owner and a builder is incredibly important, especially when it comes to large projects like custom homes or pole buildings. Everyone knows a story of a nightmare builder that vanished mid-project, or a homeowner that didn't pay a bill. How does this happen? Both the owner and the builder need to judge the character of a stranger very quickly--often in a matter of minutes from a quick initial meeting. After that, we often let the numbers do the decision-making: "Contractor A costs 8% less than Contractor B..."

The difference that Kaiser Construction offers is at the heart of the business. Every business needs to make a buck to put food on the table, but rather than focusing on dollars, Kaiser Construction was founded with the idea that quality construction and meaningful customer relationships can produce a life of fulfillment. That's the goal--living a fulfilling life by building quality structures for good people. This simple goal is at the heart of the company, and it's what drives decisions daily. Every nail is placed with a focus on building for the long term, not profit. After all is said and done, seeing a solid building that you built right gives a sense of pride that can only be described as fulfilling.
ABOUT DAMIEN - OWNER/OPERATOR
A lifelong passion for construction
I base most of my decisions on the long term, both in personal life and business. When I build a structure I build it with the intention of making it last long enough for someones grandkids to inherit it. When I build a project with a client, I do so with a long-term relationship in mind. I'm not here to cut corners and make a profit; I'm here to build structures that I can proudly show my grandkids in 50 years. And I do my best to build relationships that last decades, rather than a single project. If you work with me, you better expect a Christmas Card!

Now for the usual life story stuff:

I come from a family of engineers and DIY fanatics. Most of my latter childhood was spent in homes constantly torn apart for years-long DIY renovations. I've always loved building--legos, erector sets, you name it--but I thought that meant I wanted to become an engineer.

I went to school for mechanical engineering, but in my second year sat in on the wrong class. The 2 hour lecture discussed the construction of the Hoover Dam. I was hooked. I switched majors the same day. A couple years later I earned a degree in Construction Engineering & Management from Oregon State University. While going to school I worked for a surveyor, learning surveying and AutoCAD, and getting a taste for what a real jobsite is like.

After graduating college I worked as a Project Engineer for a marine construction company. I estimated, planned, scheduled, and executed work on rivers and dams all throughout the Pacific Northwest. Pile driving, heavy crane picks, diving, and concrete were staples of the work.

In early 2018 I moved into the residential side of construction. The shift allowed me to work with my hands and problem solve on a daily basis, and that combination of physical and mental challenges is what has kept me in this field.

I love construction, and I love to learn. I'm constantly learning new skills and improving existing skills. I have a fascination with construction equipment and trees.

I have been with my wife for 13 years, and we had our second baby in June of 2023. We live in the woods north of Spokane with our two dogs, Leina and Kaiser (does the name sound familiar?)
